The Doctoral Program, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), associated with Vienna University of Technology and University of Vienna, provides a top-level doctoral program in Applied and Numerical Mathematics. The Doctoral Program invites applications for

12 doctoral positions

for research projects concerned with the mathematical modeling, analysis, and numerical approximation of dissipative and dispersive nonlinear partial differential equations as well as with the stochastic analysis, in particular with applications in finance.

The positions are awarded for up to three years, starting from March 1st, 2013 or later. Remuneration is based on the salary scale of the FWF (about 1900 Euro gross salary, 14 times per year).

We are looking for ambitious, excellent students holding or being close to a diploma or master degree or equivalent in Mathematics or related fields. All applications should be sent by e-mail, containing a single pdf file as attachment with

  • the curriculum vitae,
  • copies of a diploma or master certificate or equivalent,
  • a study track record,
  • a proof of written and oral command in English,
  • a statement of the scientific interests related to the offered PhD projects,

Optionally,

  • recommendation letters and/or names of referees, and /or a list of publications.

After screening all applications, invitations for interviews will be sent out. All invited candidates are asked to give a short presentation of their previous work, usually on their diploma or master thesis. After these interviews, the panel of all project leaders will decide about admission.
